European Commission pays part of its obligations to Bulgaria

The European Commission has paid part of it financial dues to Bulgaria. Over the past few weeks, Brussels has transferred to the government in Sofia the sum of € 207.9 million.

The European Commission owed Bulgaria € 400.2 million for completed actions under projects funded by the structural funds and the Cohesion Fund. However, due to the lack of funds in the EU budget, the payments for the approved invoices were delayed. With the transfer of the last sum, the net worth of unpaid invoices by 26 November 2012 totals 192.3 million euros.
