Georgia will not restore railway to Russia through Abkhazia

Georgian Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili said that restoration of the railway through and to Abkhazia, shut down since conflicts in 1992-1993, will not be initiated, RIA Novosti reports.

Abkhazia believes that the idea to restore railway connection with Russia as part of the de-isolation plan for Abkhazia had political goals, such as return of Georgian refugees.

Restoration of the 300-meter railway section from Georgia to Russia will need over 1.8 billion rubles.
