Romanian priests threaten travel agencies with lawsuits for libel

Romania’s National Association of Travel Agencies accused the clergy of evading tax payments.

Representatives of travel agencies accuse the Church of unfair competition. Thousands of believers led by the clergy each year go on pilgrimages to sacred places around the world. Sometimes at price levels of travel agencies.

People from travel agencies claim that after each pilgrimage the Church has all the profit, because it does not pay taxes.

In response, the priests threaten with lawsuits, assuming that pilgrimages, organized by the Church are legitimate.
