A seal from the endangered species, known as monk seals, or Monachus monachus, Hermann-1779, was noticed on November 3 near the Constantza port, at the distance of 10 meters from the land.

According to representatives of Mare Nostrum environmental organization, the last specimen of this species was noticed near the Romanian coast in 1987, and another one was accidentally caught in 1963 by fishers in the Danube delta.

People were lucky to make a cell phone photo of the animal.
