Three dolphin rescue centers function in the Crimea

The Republican Environmental Protection Committee of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and employees of the Kara Dag wildlife reserve carry out the monthly control over the habitation environment of Black Sea dolphins.

This information has been presented by the Republican Environmental Protection Committee press service.

Several days ago, in the course of an ordinary round at the sea coast near Sudak, people registered a case of death of a brown fish. The experts believe the appearance of the animal at the sea shore has been caused by its natural death.

«Usually the so-called “murrain” of dolphins can be seen in spring – from April till July, when the flatfish is actively caught. Unfortunately, during this period the brown fish may fall into fishermen's nets and die. Currently there is no danger for dolphins’ lives», – Sergey Krivokhizhin, the senior staff scientist of the Kara Dag wildlife reserve, has noted.

Dmitry Tatarov, the Chairman of the Republican Environmental Protection Committee, has mentioned that three animal rescue centers are currently working in the Crimea, using the facilities of dolphinariums in Yevpatoria (at Donuzlav Lake), in the Artillery Bay of Sevastopol, and the Kara Dag wildlife reserve.
