Two people missing after torrential rain in Canakkale

Two people are missing after torrential rain hit the western province of Çanakkale on September 18 morning, causing severe flooding.



Torrential rain inundated the villages of Sinekçi, Güvemalan, Koruoba, Pekmezli and Hacıpehlivan in Çanakkale's Biga district. A river that flows through Sinekçi burst its banks following the heavy rain.

Local governor Fatih Genel spoke to the press about the aftermath of the flooding. A 40-year-old woman, Tülay Türe, was declared missing, possibly swept away in the flooded river. Another woman, Fatma Metin, from Koruoba, was also missing.
