Romania ranks 7th in EU in capacity of wind power installations mounted in 2011

TPA Horwath announced lately its annual «Wind energy and other renewable energy sources in Romania» report. It emphasizes a 112, 6% growth, compared to the year 2010, in capacity of wind power installations, mounted in Romania in 2011, and forecasts its double increase by the end of 2012.

The total capacity of operating wind farms reached 982 MW in December 2011 versus to 462 MW in December 2010.

Romania enjoys the 7th rank within the European Union in capacity of the wind power installations in 2011, after Germany (2,086 MW), Great Britain (1,293 MW), Spain (1,050 MW), Italy (950 MW), France (830 MW) and Sweden (763 MW).

Romania reached capacity of 1,140 MW of  wind power installations mounted by April 2012, while experts on renewable energy assess that capacity of utilized wind energy will probably rise up to almost 2,000 by the end of 2012.
