Road tax revenues in Moldova exceeded 25 million lei since early 2013

The tax receipts earned from the road vignette since early 2013 exceeded 25 million lei (US$2 million). According to the press department of the Moldovan Customs Service, over 200 thousand vignettes have been purchased in Moldova since the beginning of the year.  

As many as 4,790 infringements of the stay period, committed by owners of cars with foreign license plates, were recorded in Moldova since the beginning of the year. The encroachment of the registration rules for cars with foreign number plates may lead to fines of 2.6 thousand lei for private persons and 4 thousand lei – for legal entities.  

Dossier: The Moldovan Government introduced the road vignette (tax) for cars with foreign number plates that are using our national roads, starting from January 1, 2013. The road tax for seven days stands at 4 euros, 15 days – 8 euros, 90 days – 30 euros, 180 days – 50 euros. The road vignettes are issued at ten border checkpoints.
