South Ossetia does not trust Georgia

South Ossetian Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Jioyev said that Georgian plans to recognize Abkhaz and South Ossetian passports, as stated by Georgian State Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili, were fake.

Jioyev emphasized that South Ossetia wanted to develop ties with Georgia as a neighbour. He called Georgia’s past initiatives tempting, both with arrival of Eduard Shevardnadze and Mikheil Saakashvili. But they were nothing more than a lie, he says.

The envoy explains that Georgia needs to recognize South Ossetia and admit aggression against it.
