Moldovan premier demands setting up of commission for assessing medical devices

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca has asked Health Minister Andrei Usatii to create a commission due to make the inventorying of all the medical devices used by all the medical institutions from Moldova. Leanca made this request in the beginning of the today’s cabinet meeting.

At the same time, Leanca asked to set the needs of devices in all the medical establishments and to organise centralized acquisitions. According to the prime minister, this will have positive effects on the cost and quality of the medical equipment. Besides, Leanca stressed the necessity to work out a mechanism that will made sure that all the technical requirements for the medical equipments and devices are in line with the European quality standards.

The requests were made, after the prime minister had showed discontent with the case recorded at the Chisinau-based Valentin Ignatenco children’s hospital.
