BSEC Permanent Secretary General H.E. Ambassador Dr. Victor Tvircun paid working visit to the Republic of Serbia

The Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat (PERMIS) H.E. Ambassador Dr. Victor TVIRCUN paid a working visit to Belgrade, on 14-16 January 2013, upon the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, according to information provided to BSN by PERMIS mass media department.

In the course of his visit, the Secretary General had consultations with H.E. Mr. Ivan MRKIC, Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Milutin MRKONJIC, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Serbia. A wide range of issues concerning the current and planned activities of BSEC and the Secretariat were discussed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. MRKIC noted with pleasure the positive developments regarding the multilateral cooperation conducted within the framework of BSEC, referring to the commencement of the implementation of the new BSEC Economic Agenda, which was adopted in Belgrade on 11 June 2012 and endorsed in Istanbul by the BSEC Heads of State and Government on 26 June 2012.

Moreover, H.E. Mr. MRKIC welcomed the new appointments to the BSEC Business Council Secretariat and the development regarding BSEC’s enhanced cooperation with other regional and international organizations.

The two sides emphasized the necessity to strengthen the BSEC Working Groups through ensuring the continuous engagement of the same experts in the respective fields of cooperation.

The Serbian officials welcomed the proposal of the Secretary General regarding the construction of a Black Sea Ring Railway system, as well as the project idea recently expressed by the EU side on the establishment of a Black Sea University. The idea to elaborate a project on producing joint promotion materials regarding the hospitality traditions in the BSEC Member States was also discussed.
