The Moldovan Government approved the agenda of festivities dedicated to the country’s Independence Day marked on August 27.  

According to the press service of the Moldovan Government, the festivities will start on Monday, August 26, with a concert held at the National Palace and dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the proclamation of Moldova’s independence. The concert will also include the awarding ceremony of winners of the National Prize for 2013.  

On Tuesday, August 27, Moldovan top officials will lay flowers to the monument to medieval ruler Stefan cel Mare and to the Eternitate Military Glory Memorial in Chisinau. Also on this day, many cultural-artistic events, as well as thematic exhibitions will be held in the country.

For the first time ever, the Moldovan capital will host a parade of national costumes that will bring together 35 folk bands from all Moldovan raions.

The official launching of the construction works of the Ungheni-Iasi pipeline will take also place on August 27, and will be attended by European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta. The works are to be completed by the end of this year, after which the facility will be subjected to technical tests.    

Infotag’s dossier: In line with a governmental decision, Monday and Tuesday, August 26 and August 27, respectively, are declared as days-off in Moldova this year.
