The world exhibition, due in Milano, Italy in 2015, is an exceptional opportunity for Moldova to promote itself, Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar said on June 7 at the opening of an exhibition of design projects for the Moldovan Pavilion - EXPO – 2015 World Exhibition.

«We envisage the participation in the EXPO – 2015 World Exhibition, which is to be held in Milano on 1 May-31 October 2015, as an investment, especially, because the organisers are expecting up to 30 million visitors,» he said. Lazar added that the exhibition was important for Moldova, firstly because it would provide the opportunity to stage its agricultural potential, especially as regards the production of the organic food products.

Moldova will participate in the World Expo-2015 in Milano, with a separated pavilion, according to an individual project, built with its proper forces on an afferent land of the main alley located on the territory meant for exhibition.

In order to implement the project, the Moldexpo exhibition centre launched a contest in March 2013 to select the best and the most original concept of presenting Moldova at the above mentioned exhibition. Several concept authors, individually or in groups, as well as design institutions participated in the first stage of the public contest.

The contest commission and the organising committee will announce the winner on the last day of the exhibition, on 9 June.

The participation in the World Expo-2015 will be for Moldova the third experience of this kind, the previous two being in Hanover, Germany in 2000 and in Shanghai, China in 2010.

At the World Expo-2015, Moldova will use the opportunity to internationally promote itself as a country with real potential in producing organic products.
