17:07 29.04.2013

On April 26, 2013, the parliament approved a draft law, which sees that Moldovan citizens abroad would be able to purchase the health insurance policy at a 75-per-cent discount by 31 October 2013.

According to the document’s authors, the draft law would help increase the responsiveness of the compulsory insurance health system to the citizens’ needs and would thus include more people into the system.

According to data presented within this draft law, solely based on the Education Ministry’s bilateral agreements, there are more than 5000 Moldovan citizens studying abroad. There are also a high number of Moldovan students who study abroad on their own money. According to the “Migration and Skills” study carried out by the World Bank, this number could even exceed 9000.
