Georgia wants to join Southern Gas Corridor

On March 26, 2013, at the opening of the two-day GIOGIE 2013 Energy Forum in Tbilisid Georgian Energy Minister said that the Georgian Dream coalition was positive towards all energy projects and was building dams to increase power output, Trend reports.

The minister noted that Georgia wanted to cooperate with Azerbaijan and Turkey to join the Southern Gas Corridor.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Eduard Stavitsky said that his country was interested in transit of Azerbaijani and Middle Asian hydrocarbons to Europe.

GIOGIE was organized by Iteca Kavkasia. The talks are attended by head of the UE mission in Georgia Philipp Dimitrov, officials of the British and Kazakh embassies, staff of petroleum companies and experts. GIOGIE considers key international problems of world petroleum industry and energy and their impact on Georgia.
