Fifth case of self ignition in protest against monopoles and corruption

Simeon Simeonov, 59, a miner, set himself on fire in the presence of his son, in the street in Bobov Dol, West Bulgaria.

The miner had lost his job. Shortly before this desperate act he phoned his wife telling her he felt useless for himself and his family. Simeon Simeonov poured petrol over his head and lit a mach, news agencies inform. The boy put the fire off with his jacket, but his father had already acquired 30% burns. He was immediately taken to hospital but his condition is critical.

This is the 5th case of self ignition for the past month as a sign of protest against poverty, highhandedness of monopoles and corruption among politicians.
