Railway communication will open between Bulgarian and Greek ports

Greek government railway company «Ergose» has begun building railway communication between the port of Alexandroupoli and the Bulgarian Black Sea ports, Maritime.bg informs.

The project is worth EUR 4 million and will be implemented within 12 months. According to the project, the object is small, but crucial for the Greek economy. Alexandroupoli has become a strategic port, which provides a quick and inexpensive communication with Burgas and Varna. Rail service will be an alternative to Bosphorus. According to experts, the cost of transportation by rail is much lower, and will reduce travel time from 2 days to 6 hours. Implementation of the project will help create new jobs.
