Thomas Cook representative: Romania needs to focus on budget tourists

Romania should completely change its negative image in the international tourism and achieve its full potential as a holiday destination for travelers with small and medium income.

Gheorghe Marginean, manager of Karpaten Turism and Thomas Cook Neckermann representative blamed negative image for Romania's shortage of tourists with higher incomes.

Thomas Cook is one of the largest mass tourists operators in the world. Last year, more than 5,600 foreign tourists reached Romanian shores with Thomas Cook, approximately 60 percent of them are German, and 40 percent Polish. These figures contradict a recent statement by Dragos Anastasiu , President of Eurolines Romania, who suggested that German tourists know almost nothing about Romania and never visit the country. He literally called it a black hole, a dark spot on the map.
