Moldovan PM to meet Romanian counterpart in Bucharest, EU top officials

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will meet his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta in Bucharest on 14 November, to discuss a project on Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.

On 15 November, the two officials will have a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels. The sides will tackle concrete actions helping Moldova in its European integration.

The officials will approach the bilateral cooperation, especially, the one on energy integration, as well as the reconstruction of at least two bridges destroyed during the World War II: one in Ungheni for road transport and the other in the southern Leova district.

“It’s up to us how much we will speed up the things, as we have an unprecedented support from Brussels,” Leanca noted.

After the meeting, the sides will make press statements.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will meet European Council President Herman Van Rompuy to discuss Moldova’s European agenda.

On 15 November afternoon, Leanca will hold separated talks with Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas, and European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom.

Iurie Leanca will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman and Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar.
