Turkish export unit index down by 0.8 % in April 2013

Turkey's overall export unit value decreased by 0.8 percent as well as import unit value was down by 3.6 percent in April 2013 compared to the same month of 2012.

Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, released on Friday the foreign trade indices for April 2013. 

In the same month, compared to April 2012, while the export unit value index for fuels decreased by 14.2 percent, the export unit value index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 0.6 percent, 2.8 percent and 0.8 percent respectively.

The import unit value index for food, beverages and tobacco, manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 10.7 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively, the import unit value index for crude materials (except fuels) and fuels decreased by 9.2 percent, 11.1 percent respectively, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.

In April 2013, the import volume index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels, manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 15.1 percent, 7.4 percent, 3.9 percent, 16.7 percent, respectively, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.

In April this year, while the calendar adjusted export volume index decreased by 3.9 percent, import volume index increased by 20.2 percent, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. While the calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index decreased by 3.9 percent, import volume index increased by 9.7 percent, as compared with previous month, said TurkStat.
