Chinese farmers to cultivate truffles in Bulgaria

Chinese companies will present several projects for opening production facilities in Europe at a forum for investments and tourism in Plovdiv. This is the first of a kind meeting held in Bulgaria that will gather over 100 companies from China and around 200 Bulgarian firms.

According to the representative of the Bulgarian consulate in Shanghai Krastyo Belev the Asians have many projects that could be implemented in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. One of the ideas is to cultivate truffles in Bulgaria.

The forum will officially start on May 28 morning in Plovdiv and will be inaugurated by caretaker Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Asen Vasilev. The next joint forum will be held in Shanghai in July.

Among the represented companies are four major tour operators who will study the possibilities for the development of spa tourism in Bulgaria. According to the preliminary information, Chenese tourists show increasingly high interest in cultural, spa and wine tourism in this country.
