Bulgaria has the lowest price of electricity but also lowest energy efficiency

According to figures from Eurostat, the lowest price of electricity for households in the EU in 2011 was registered in Bulgaria – EUR 8.7 for 100 Kilowatt/hours.

To compare – the average cost for the EU is EUR 18.4. At the same time Bulgaria continues to be #1 in the EU for the quantity of energy necessary for the making of a unit of economic produce (854 Kwt/h), which is 5 times above the average EU level. Furthermore Bulgaria stands in the group of the five largerst electricity exporting countries in the EU after France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Spain.
