Armenian president calls Armenia-Georgia railway efficient

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has met the population of Egvard in the Kotaysk Region as part of his presidential campaign and noted the importance of the railway between Armenia and Georgia soon to be opened, News.am reports.

It will reduce freighting expenses, improve communications with Russia and other CIS states. Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili called restoration of the route important.

Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab said that he saw no prospects for changes in the project and expressed doubts about its realization.

Sargsyan said that Armenia will build large water reservoirs in Egvard, Kakhsi and Vedi for irrigation in 2013-2014.
