Istanbul Airport to become world’s largest

Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said that the Istanbul Airport will become the world’s largest and will serve up to 150 million passengers annually, Reuters reports.

The first stage of the airport construction will be accomplished before 2017. It will serve 90 million passengers annually when it opens, News Azerbaijan reports.

The airport with six runways will cost about $9.3 billion, excluding its financing. The tender for construction will start on January 24. TAV has already expressed interest in the project.
