Bulgarian sailors arrested in Spain for drug trafficking, remain in custody

Bulgarian sailors who have been detained with 3 tons of cocaine in Spain, will remain in prison until the end of the investigation.

This was the decision of the Supreme Court of Spain Judge after hearing the sailors’ case. On
September 18 the court ruled that all the sailors, 21 person, should remain in prison.

The case investigation has been started, which may last for months or even years. According to
Spanish laws, prisoners may remain in jail without conviction for two years, the term may be
extended for another two years, after which the accused must stand trial.
