Chisinau International Airport provides services to record number of passengers in 2013

The Chisinau International Airport provided services to a record number of passenger in 2013 – 1,321,362 or by 8.26 per cent more than in 2012, the airport’s press service has reported.

As many as 102,512 passengers were served in December 2013, up by 26.90 per cent against the same period of 2012.

A number of 17,555 flights were made in 2013, by 8.91 per cent more than in 2012.

The most popular destinations were: Moscow – 28 per cent, Istanbul – 12 per cent, Antalya – 9 per cent, Verona – 6 per cent, Munich – 6 per cent, Vienna – 5 per cent, Rome – 4 per cent and Milano – 4 per cent.

The Chisinau International Airport is Moldova’s main air gateway and was nominated as the “Airport with the most dynamic development of the Commonwealth of Independent States” for the sixth year in a row.

Presently, 19 air companies make charter and regular flights to/from the Chisinau airport to 29 international destinations. Four national air carriers and 15 foreign air companies are working at the Chisinau airport.
