Political representatives for Transnistrian conflict settlement meet in Tiraspol

The political representatives for the Transnistrian conflict settlement on behalf of Chisinau and Tiraspol, Eugen Carpov and Nina Shtanski, met at the Tiraspol-based office of the OSCE Mission today. Attending the event were international partners of the five-plus-two talks, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The political representatives tackled more issues, among which the mechanism of setting the pension for the citizens from both banks of the Dniester, who ruled to change their residence. In this respect, the sides agreed that the subject should be additionally discussed at meetings between experts in the sector from Chisinau and Tiraspol.

Another topic approached at the meeting was focused on ensuring access of the residents of the eastern Dubasari district to their farmlands placed beyond the Ribnita-Tiraspol highway. In this context, Eugen Carpov stressed the humanitarian and calendar-related character of this aspect, and reiterated the importance to extend the mechanism of access to these lands.

Also, the political representatives considered the present level of interaction between experts in the field of combating the criminality, as well as procedures of dismantling the cable car between the Ribnita and Rezina towns.

The Tiraspol representatives and the international partners welcomed Chisinau’s decision to remove the administrative fines levied on the residents of the Transnistrian regions who travel on the basis of foreign passports. In this respect, Eugen Carpov said this action was meant to diminish the administrative obstacles and represented a real contribution of Chisinau to ensuring the freedom of movement on both banks of the Dniester.

At the same time, the international partners showed concern about the situation in the Security Zone and the present problems within the Joint Control Commission. They urged Chisinau and Tiraspol to foster the dialogue on these aspects and abstain from unilateral actions.
