The head of Georgian government Bidzina Ivanishvili has stated that if the countrymen now living in other countries return to Georgia, their lives would be no worse. In addition, they are very much needed to the country, the KP.ru reported.

«The experience and intellectual capacity of the Georgian diaspora is very important for Georgia,» said the Prime Minister before the gala concert in the Rustaveli Theater dedicated to the Days of the Diaspora.

Ivanishvili added that at the moment more than 1.2 million citizens of Georgia live in 32 countries around the world. Many of them were forced to leave the country «for a piece of bread,» and, according to him, they should be able to return to their homeland.

Earlier, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II also urged the citizens of Georgia living abroad to return to their homeland. In connection with the Days of the Georgian Diaspora spiritual leader of the country took the representatives of Georgian diaspora in various countries at the Patriarchate. The meeting was attended by the State Minister for Diaspora Constantine Surguladze, known opera singers and jazz musicians, the Tbilisi Week reported.
