Georgian team to attend Olympics

On May 2, 2013 at an extraordinary session of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Georgia a decision was made on the participation of the country's Olympic team in the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014.

It is reported that of the 46 voting delegates - representatives of various sports federations registered in the Committee - none voted against Georgia's participation in the Games.
«I congratulate you on the fact that the Georgian athletes will take part in the Olympic Games,» RIA News quotes the NOC president Larry Habelova.
Earlier, the head of the Georgian government Bidzina Ivanishvili said that «Georgia will take part in the Olympic Games in Sochi.» The same was previously stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Pandzhikidze.
A possible boycott of the Games in Sochi was repeatedly mentioned only by representatives of the former ruling party of President Mikheil Saakashvili «United National Movement».
