Foreigners reject Romanian hotels

The number of foreign citizens amounted to less than a quarter of the total flow of tourists, staying at Romanian hotels in 2012.

Only 20% (1.5 million people) out of 7.6 million tourists, accommodated in Romania, were represented by foreigners. Similar data were recorded in 2011. This statistics cannot be considered as completely trustworthy, since it does not account persons, residing at their friends’ premises, at the “black tourism market”, and in the rural regions of the country.

The majority of foreign guests include European countries’ residents – 94.2%, including EU citizens – 60%.
