BSEC PA holds session in Baku

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) is having the 40th plenary session in Baku on November 26, News Azerbaijan reports.

Jalya Aliyeva, chairwoman of the committee for culture, education and social affairs, described the social changes Azerbaijan had experienced lately. Lilia Grigorovich, a Ukrainian member of the committee, made a report on social reforms of members of the organization.

BSEC was formed in 1992. Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine are its members. Austria, Germany, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Tunisia, France, the European Energy Charter Conference and the International Black Sea Club are its observers. The organization is headquartered in Istanbul.

The BSEC goal is multilateral cooperation of Black Sea states in trade-economics, transportation, tourism and ecology, combating terrorism and organized crime.

The VSEC Parliamentary Assembly is chaired by a different member-state every half a year in the alphabetic order. Azerbaijan follows the chairmanship of Albania and Armenia.
